Dental SEO Case Study: Building Teeth by Trev for AI Search

A patient considering veneers rarely asks one neat keyword question. They compare techniques, clinicians, costs, recovery, financing, locations and trust. Increasingly, part of that research happens inside Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Microsoft Copilot before a practice website is ever opened.

That change shaped our work with Teeth by Trev, the cosmetic and implant dentistry brand led by Dr. Trevor J. Thomas, DDS. AI Search Ready's role is not simply to make the website rank for more dental keywords. It is to make the business easier for search engines and AI answer systems to find, understand and describe accurately, then connect that discovery to a well-managed patient enquiry.

The Challenge: Preserve the Artistry, Improve the Clarity

Teeth by Trev did not need a generic dental identity. The brand already had a distinct point of view: face-first smile design, hand-finished restorative work and a highly visual patient experience. Its services range from porcelain veneers and smile makeovers to dental implants, full-mouth rehabilitation, professional whitening, and general dentistry and hygiene.

The harder task was translating that rich human story into a digital presence that different audiences could use equally well:

  • A prospective patient needed confidence, clear service information and an obvious next step.
  • A non-technical team needed to update pages, images, services and locations without waiting for a developer.
  • Search engines needed clean titles, canonicals, indexable content, sensible internal paths and accurate local details.
  • AI answer systems needed a consistent understanding of who Dr. Trev is, what Teeth by Trev offers, where appointments are available and which pages support those facts.
  • The concierge team needed complete enquiries, not anonymous messages missing a phone number, social handle or the smile pictures required to assess the next step.

The multi-city model added another layer. A physical address, an appointment-only market and two locations within one city are different facts. Publishing them carelessly can confuse both patients and machines.

Why AI SEO Still Begins With Strong SEO

AI SEO, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) andGenerative Engine Optimization (GEO) are often marketed as replacements for traditional SEO. We treat them as additional layers.

SEO makes useful pages eligible to be discovered. AEO makes important passages clear enough to answer a specific question. GEO strengthens the broader entity, evidence and content signals that can support a brand's inclusion in a generated response. The labels differ, but they depend on the same basics: accessible pages, accurate information, original expertise and corroborating trust signals.

That position aligns with Google's guidance for generative AI features, which explains that AI Overviews and AI Mode still draw on core Search systems. Google also describes retrieval-augmented generation, grounding and query fan-out: one question can trigger several related searches before an answer is assembled.

For a cosmetic dentistry journey, a question about veneers can quickly branch into candidacy, natural appearance, preparation, longevity, financing, location, clinician credentials and alternatives. A single glossy homepage cannot answer that full decision journey.

The AI Search Ready Approach

1. Build an Editable Foundation Without Gambling With the Live Site

The first requirement was operational: preserve the approved Teeth by Trev experience while giving the client real control over its content. We created a WordPress implementation in a separate Git branch and deployed it to isolated GoDaddy staging. The public site and production integrations were left unchanged during development and QA, allowing the team to test the conversion against the existing website before any future cutover decision.

The result is a purpose-built WordPress system with Elementor-editable page sections and dedicated content managers for:

  • Services
  • Testimonials
  • Smile transformations
  • Locations and city pop-ups
  • Navigation menus
  • Search titles and descriptions
  • Social-sharing titles, descriptions and images

The client can change content through familiar WordPress screens, while the theme preserves the visual system and the content plugin keeps reusable business information structured. Accurate content should be easy to maintain, and one routine edit should not break layouts, metadata or integrations.

2. Strengthen the Technical SEO Layer

The build established a controlled technical foundation across the canonical site routes, including:

  • Page-specific search titles and meta descriptions
  • Canonical URLs
  • Open Graph and social-sharing metadata
  • Sitemap controls and intentional indexing rules
  • A permanent redirect for the retired /atelier path
  • Removal of the duplicate /classic experience from public indexing
  • noindex protection for the payment and reservation step
  • Semantic headings, landmarks, alternative text and keyboard-accessible interactions
  • Responsive layouts and measured page stability
  • Private handling for visitor smile uploads so sensitive images never become public SEO assets

This is the less glamorous side of technical SEO for dental practices, but it is also the layer that makes every content investment more dependable. An answer engine cannot reliably retrieve information from a page that is blocked, duplicated, unstable or unclear about its canonical identity.

3. Treat Dr. Trev and Teeth by Trev as Connected Entities

AI search visibility is partly an entity problem. The web needs to agree on the relationship among the clinician, the business, its services, its contact details, its social profiles and its real locations.

We consolidated the public presentation around the full professional nameDr. Trevor J. Thomas, DDS, the Teeth by Trev brand, the business's core treatment categories and its verified contact journey. Location information is managed as individual WordPress records rather than loose footer text. New York can contain separate Manhattan and Brooklyn details; appointment-only markets can say precisely that instead of implying a permanent clinic.

This creates a safer base for local SEO, entity SEO, Google Business Profile review, Bing Places review and future structured data. The next schema layer will followGoogle's LocalBusiness guidance: mark up only facts that are visible, accurate and supportable, then validate the output before release.

4. Turn Clinical Expertise Into Answer-Ready Content

The goal is not to stuff pages with every variation of “cosmetic dentist Beverly Hills.” It is to build useful treatment content around the real questions a patient asks before trusting a clinician.

Our content model connects each priority service to a planned question universe, including:

  • What makes porcelain veneers look natural rather than uniform?
  • Who may be a candidate for a smile makeover?
  • When are dental implants considered instead of other restorations?
  • What is involved in full-mouth rehabilitation?
  • What can be discussed in a video consultation, and what requires an in-person clinical exam?
  • How do financing and treatment staging affect the plan?

These are not filler FAQs. Each answer should be reviewed against Dr. Trev's actual process, written in plain language and supported by first-hand imagery, credentials, approved transformations and relevant third-party evidence. That is better for patients and creates clearer passages for search retrieval, featured answers and AI-generated summaries.

5. Connect Visibility to a Qualified Enquiry

On the WordPress staging build, the enquiry experience separates three different needs so the team can test a clearer handoff before any public cutover:

  1. A new smile consultation
  2. Existing-patient support
  3. A general or business enquiry

In that staging flow, every path requires a phone number, Instagram handle and at least one smile picture. The Instagram handle remains available regardless of the visitor's preferred contact method and is stored in Airtable's Social field. The form also captures relevant service, city, timeline and attribution data while keeping visitor pictures private.

That design creates a cleaner line from search intent to enquiry intent once it is live. It gives the concierge team the information needed to respond appropriately and creates a better measurement foundation for understanding which organic and AI-search journeys lead to meaningful conversations.

6. Prepare the Next Layer: Responsible Call Automation

The engagement is also moving beyond discovery into business operations. We are working toward an AI-assisted call process designed to help the team respond faster and lose fewer enquiries when staff cannot answer immediately.

The planned workflow is intentionally human-led. It may support consistent intake questions, missed-call capture, call routing, structured summaries and follow-up tasks, with relevant information passed into the existing lead workflow. Clinical judgement, urgent care, consent-sensitive topics and complex patient conversations must continue to reach a qualified person.

Validated Progress So Far

At the WordPress CMS release checkpoint, controlled staging QA confirmed:

  • Ten canonical visitor routes worked across mobile, tablet and desktop.
  • Thirty hosted visual comparisons matched the approved WordPress reference at that checkpoint with identical page heights and a 0.00% raster difference.
  • Twenty automated accessibility and performance scans returned zero axe violations.
  • The shared footer and pre-footer later passed 24 route-and-viewport checks, plus 48 city-pop-up comparisons covering text, links, keyboard behaviour and viewport bounds.
  • Browser and server tests enforced required phone, Instagram and smile-picture fields across all three enquiry types, including the exact Airtable Social mapping.

These are controlled quality-assurance results, not real-user field data, an SEO ranking guarantee or proof of increased AI citations. They demonstrate that the search and content foundation was built with measurable release criteria rather than visual approval alone.

How Success Will Be Measured

Organic search

Indexed pages, non-brand impressions, service-and-location query visibility, organic visits, consultation starts and qualified submissions.

AI search

A dated set of patient-style questions, recording mentions, description accuracy, competitors, citations and whether cited information is current.

Local visibility

Accuracy and engagement of verified business profiles, reviews, citations and location-specific conversion paths.

Operations

Enquiry completeness, time to first response, missed-call recovery and handoff quality after controlled call-automation testing.

Where available, Bing's AI Performance reportingcan add citation, cited-page and grounding-query data. The point is not to blend every measure into one vague “AI score.” It is to show what changed, why it changed and whether the change produced a better patient and business outcome.

What This Work Demonstrates

For Teeth by Trev, AI search optimization is a connected system:

  • A fast, accessible and crawlable website
  • Clear services and clinically accurate answers
  • Consistent clinician, brand and location entities
  • Trust signals that can be verified beyond the website
  • Structured content a client can keep current in WordPress
  • A measurable path from discovery to consultation
  • Responsible automation after the lead arrives

That is the foundation AI Search Ready is building: not guaranteed placement in an answer, but fewer reasons for search and AI systems to misunderstand or overlook a business that has earned the right to be considered.

Frequently asked questions

Does this case study claim ranking or AI recommendation gains?

No. Traffic, ranking, lead and AI-citation claims are reserved until there is a complete pre/post measurement window. The page reports work built and validated so far, including controlled staging QA.

Is the WordPress build the current live Teeth by Trev website?

Not by default. The WordPress foundation was validated on isolated GoDaddy staging while the public site remained unchanged during development and QA. Any production cutover should be verified separately before being described as live.

Is AI Search Ready the same as isready.ai?

No. AI Search Ready at aisearchready.ca is a Vaughan-based AI search visibility practice (a Barrana.ai venture). It is not isready.ai (an AI website-readiness scanner) and not Milwaukee Web Design’s AI Search Ready™ service.

AI Search Ready is the dedicated AI search visibility practice of Barrana.ai. No organic search position, AI citation or recommendation can be guaranteed; the work focuses on the factors a business can verify and improve.
