An AI-Friendly Business Description Template

Direct answer

An AI-friendly business description is one paragraph that states your business name, category, services, service area, and one verifiable proof point in plain, quotable sentences. Write it once, then use the same wording on your homepage, About page, Google Business Profile, and directory listings, because consistency across sources is itself a visibility signal.

How Do You Use This Template?

Fill in each sentence below with your real details, read the paragraph aloud to make sure it still sounds human, and then paste it consistently everywhere your business is described. Resist the urge to write a different flavour per platform: the value of this template is that every source ends up agreeing.

What Does the Template Include?

Identity sentence

Name the business, its category, and its home base in one sentence. This is the sentence AI tools most need and most websites never write.

Example: "AI Search Ready is a Vaughan, Ontario consultancy that helps businesses appear in AI-powered search answers."

Services sentence

List your three to five core services in plain words, not brand names for services no outsider recognizes.

Example: "The company provides AI visibility audits, content and schema optimization, and ongoing monitoring."

Service area sentence

State the area you genuinely serve, and how: in person, remotely, or both. Never claim cities where you do not actually work.

Example: "It serves businesses across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario, with engagements delivered online."

Proof sentence

One verifiable fact that supports trust: years in operation, a held credential with the issuing body, or a genuine review presence. Skip it entirely rather than inventing one.

Example: "The practice is led by its founder and publishes its pricing openly."

Where to use it

Homepage first paragraph or footer, About page opening, Google Business Profile description, and every directory that allows a description field. The wording should match across all of them.

Example: The same four sentences on the website, Google Business Profile, and industry directory, rather than three different self-descriptions.

Common mistakes

Slogans in place of facts, superlatives no one can verify, services listed that you rarely deliver, and a different description on every platform, which reads as inconsistency to the systems cross-checking you.

Example: "Your trusted partner for excellence" says nothing a machine or a stranger can use; "a licensed electrical contractor serving Durham Region since 2012" says everything.

Frequently asked questions

How long should the description be?

Four sentences is the target: identity, services, area, proof. Long enough to state the facts, short enough that every platform accepts it and every reader finishes it.

Should I include keywords?

Use the words customers actually say, which usually are the keywords. Do not stuff variations; one clear category name beats five awkward synonyms.
